Football

Uwdi Krugg will be spending the 2016-17 season watching South West non league football, eating the wrong kind of food and having a bloody good moan.

Pre Season Friendly Options?

Looking around the ever increasing listings of next seasons avant-garde Pre Season Friendlies I became tantalisingly transfixed on a slightly different approach. Instead of going to games here, there and everywhere amidst lots of clubs from various and widely random leagues, why not put a common denominator in place? Why not ensure that a club from one (and the same) quality league were always present in the respective fixture. Well, I had a go at it. The winning chosen league was the North West Counties League (by the way, they've lost the Vodkat tag now). I'm not 100% sure on commiting to this idea yet but I've picked out a selection of eclectic non league friendlies concerning NWCL clubs all in the month of July 2011. I might just take it on, there are a mix of charismatic standards and locations all being thrown in the mixer.... there are bound to be some worthwhile nuggets in there. Lets see how things transpire.

Here is a listing of my Pre Season Friendly research (and dates) for North West Counties League club involvement:

JULY

Saturday 2nd Prestatyn Town v AFC Liverpool

Saturday 9th Lostock St Gerrards v Barnoldswick Town

Wednesday 13th Silsden v Bradford City

Saturday 16th Longridge Town v Ashton Athletic

Saturday 23rd Prestwich Heys v Maine Road

Thursday 28th Buckley Town v Runcorn Linnets

Saturday 30th Llandudno v Stone Dominoes

Did you go to the Prestatyn Town v AFC Liverpool game?

Nah, didn't make it Dave. It was too nice a day really, just didn't feel like football weather (its mega early really, July 2nd etc). I'd also already done Prestatyn as my final game of last season, not too many weeks ago. I avoided the holiday traffic and went walking on the Moors instead. I posted the pre season fixtures for North West Counties clubs as an idea rather than a firm commitment, still might do some of them yet? The season 'proper' kicks in on August 6th.

You missed a fine game, Uwdi.

Wow! Great 5-2 win for AFC Liverpool, you cannot argue with 7 goals whatever the time of year. A very promising result for the Liverpool side as they step up in class this coming season.

Hi mate, the Buckley Town v Runcorn Linnets game is not being played, Buckley Town are now at Holywell Town that night, and the Linnets were due to travel to AFC Liverpool, however that one is also off now after AFCLs promotion! This is the current state of play for T'Linnets pre-season .... http://www.runcornlinnetsfc.co.uk/Fixtures.asp
